One of the things that got me–and probably my mom too–through church when I was a kid was sketching and drawing. It’s something I actually used to do quite a lot of as a kid, even outside of church. But somewhere along the way I realized I’m not very good at it. Which in turn made me self-conscious. Which made me stop.

No more!

I told a friend a few weeks ago that if there was one form of art I really, really wish I was good at it would be sketching. I got inspired by this guy, and then a friend from my art and coffee group, and then this site. So I went out and after a couple weeks of hemming and hawing I bought a sketchbook today to carry around with me.

So we’ll see where this leads. I’m all about trying new things right now artistically. Hope you like my first sketch in about, hmm, 16 years!
